United Way Post-Season Tax Preparation Help

The deadline for filing taxes this year has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean it’s too late to find help. Whether you asked the IRS for an extension or not, United Way is continuing to provide free tax preparation assistance at two locations throughout the month of May. Both the Seattle Public Library Central Branch and the Kent Public Health Center will host United Way volunteer tax experts.
The eligibility requirements for this service remain the same, namely that your household must have made less than $66,000 in the past year or the year that you are filing for. Tax assistance is available for anyone filing returns from fiscal year 2008-2017, albeit with some limitations on sources of income like stocks or rentals. The service also does not cover any business taxes.
