Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission has partnered with three North Seattle area churches to provide shelter services for adults this winter, beginning with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shoreline. The shelter will be open each night, 7pm-7am.
Each church will host the shelter for three weeks:
- Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Shoreline – Dec. 3-Dec. 23, 2013
- Seattle Mennonite Church – Dec. 24-Jan. 13, 2014.
- Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church – Jan. 14-Feb. 3, 2014.
Trained staff members and volunteers will be operating the shelter each night and building relationships with guests to encourage entry into Detox and Rehab programs, enabling permanent residency through housing assistance, and promoting positive life behaviors. Clients will have access to the mission’s legal and dental services. Meals will be provided by the host church. Guests at the shelter must vacate the neighborhood during the day, but limited bus tickets will be available.
